And fill me from the crown to the toe top-full
The play Macbeth is said to be one of the most misogynistic plays Shakespeare ever wrote. This quote is meant to be one of those moments that support this idea, however, i actually didn't see this at all when i first read this line. I actually interpreted this as she wants to be a god, a god filled with no remorse and manipulate everything to be in her favor. This could be completely misinterpreted it, especially with how women were interpreted in this time period, but to me it's the phrase "unsex me" is what made me think this. One argument for this is that Pandora, the Greek woman who unleashed all evils into this world, and Eve, the woman who kicked out humans from paradise, are obvious references of women being the fall of men, or women having power of manipulation, but the Greek/Roman gods do more to show this off. The gods stop and crush and lie to reach their goals. In fact, compared to women and men, the Greek/Roman gods have proven time and time again to constantly start wars, back stab each other and humans, only to do what they want to do, especially since they have almost no consequences for doing so. In my honest opinion, it makes more sense for Shakespeare with this to be more about gods than about women or men.
